POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
The no-confidence motion against Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwarul Haq continues to face delays, with sources indicating that it is unlikely to be presented even today.
According to insiders, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has yet to reach a final decision on the timing of the motion’s presentation. The uncertainty has sparked unease among several assembly members, particularly those who recently joined the PPP from the Forward Bloc.
Sources say that some members of the Forward Bloc now view their decision to join the PPP as “premature” and are seeking guidance from the party’s leadership on how to justify their move to their constituencies.
“PPP lawmakers are questioning what message to convey to their workers and voters,” a source revealed. “They are unsure how to explain the ongoing indecision.”
Meanwhile, PPP members of the assembly have camped at Kashmir House, awaiting directives from the top leadership.
Party insiders confirm that PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will take the final decision regarding the presentation of the no-confidence motion. However, the move is unlikely to proceed for the next three to four days.
It may be recalled that the PPP and the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had earlier agreed to table a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Anwarul Haq. However, the PML-N has clarified that it will not support the PPP in forming a new government.
According to sources, the PML-N has decided to sit in the opposition benches, while maintaining that the PPP may form a government only if it secures the required majority on its own.
Political analysts suggest that the delay reflects growing rifts within the PPP ranks and mounting pressure on Bilawal Bhutto to consolidate his party’s position in AJK’s shifting political landscape.
