PM Shahbaz Urges Afghan Govt to Prevent Use of Territory Against Pakistan

Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has reiterated his call to the Afghan interim government to ensure that its territory is not used for activities against Pakistan, emphasizing that regional peace and stability are crucial for economic prosperity.

Speaking at a Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) signing ceremony in Uzbekistan, PM Shahbaz highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with Uzbekistan and fostering economic development.

Strengthening Pakistan-Uzbekistan Relations

During the event, PM Shahbaz Sharif reaffirmed his commitment to Pakistan’s economic growth and regional connectivity, stating:

  • Trade through railways will be expanded.
  • Investments in economic zones will be facilitated.
  • Cooperation in tourism will be enhanced.
  • Uzbekistan will be connected to Karachi and Lahore for better trade opportunities.

Pakistan’s Economic Growth

The prime minister also highlighted his government's efforts in stabilizing Pakistan’s economy over the past year. He noted:

  • Pakistan’s economy has regained stability.
  • Reduction in policy rates has boosted investor confidence.
  • The country’s growth rate is on the rise.

Call for Regional Peace & Security

Addressing security concerns, PM Shahbaz urged Afghanistan’s interim government to prevent its soil from being used against Pakistan.

Regional peace and stability are in the interest of all of us,” he stressed, adding that a stable Afghanistan is crucial for the prosperity of the entire region.

Pakistan has long expressed concerns over the presence of militant groups operating from Afghan territory, urging the Taliban-led government to take stronger action against cross-border terrorism.

The prime minister’s visit to Uzbekistan and bilateral agreements signed during the trip signal Pakistan’s continued focus on economic diplomacy and regional cooperation.
