Inspector General Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, has ordered a province-wide high security alert and directed immediate sweep and combing operations in major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
The directive came during a meeting chaired by IG Punjab, emphasizing enhanced vigilance against potential threats. SDPOs and SHOs will coordinate with the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and other security agencies to conduct comprehensive combing operations. Mock drills in educational institutions will also be carried out to ensure preparedness in case of emergencies.
Dr. Anwar instructed the installation of CCTV cameras at entry and exit points of schools, colleges, and universities, the deployment of security personnel, and strict adherence to emergency evacuation protocols.
“Immediate profiling and data verification of individuals entering the province must be conducted,” Dr. Anwar stated. “Regular monitoring of banned organizations, including TLP, should continue, and door-to-door checks must be intensified to prevent infiltration by terrorists and malicious elements.”
The high alert underscores Punjab police’s proactive approach to maintaining security in public spaces and educational institutions, while preventing potential threats from extremist groups. Authorities have assured citizens that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure safety across the province.
