Rana Sanaullah: PTI Founder Seeks Movement from Jail, Government Focused on Economic Recovery

Advisor to the Prime Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Samaa News’ program “Mere Sawal” that the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is attempting to launch a political movement against the government even while in jail.

He recalled the events of November 26, when PTI allegedly surrounded government offices and a Chief Minister faced an armed attack. Sanaullah claimed that the PTI founder was calling for a long march and riots, and that tweets from PTI leaders criticized both government and institutions.

“The solution is only through talks and negotiations. The PTI founder was Prime Minister for four years but did not engage in dialogue with opponents. He still avoids talking to others,” Sanaullah said.

Addressing concerns about the jailed PTI leader’s health, the advisor said jail authorities confirmed that all facilities are available and that reports claiming otherwise were false.

On governance and economy, Sanaullah denied any corruption scandals at federal or provincial levels, adding that historical corruption in institutions like FBR, police, and income tax had previously affected the country. He highlighted that Pakistan was on the verge of default two years ago, but economic conditions are now improving, with the IMF acknowledging progress.

He further stated that the government is actively working on privatization of PIA and pursuing policies to stabilize the economy, expressing confidence that Pakistan will overcome its current economic challenges.
