The integrity of Cambridge International Education (CIE) faces a severe crisis as a second AS Level Mathematics paper has been leaked in Pakistan within a single exam series.
Fresh Security Breach
-
Widespread Leak: Dozens of students reported that the AS Level Mathematics paper (Code 9709/5), scheduled to begin at 2:00 PM today, was already circulating in solved form on social media platforms well before the exam started.
-
Student Shock: Candidates who saw the leaked material online expressed shock upon entering the examination halls, confirming that the actual question paper was an exact match to the one circulating on WhatsApp and other platforms.
Official Confirmation
Dr. Ghulam Ali Mallah, Executive Director of the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC), has officially confirmed the leak of this second paper.
-
CIE Admission: According to Dr. Mallah, Cambridge has preliminary confirmed the breach, and Pakistani authorities are now awaiting their official stance.
-
Systemic Failure: Dr. Mallah described the recurring leaks as "unfortunate," noting that Cambridge has so far been unable to secure its examination process effectively in the region.
The Precedent: Paper 12
This follows the earlier compromise of the AS Level Mathematics Paper (9709/12), which leaked on April 29, 2026, across Administrative Zones 3 and 4.
-
Cancellation: After an investigation, Cambridge concluded that the integrity of Paper 12 was too compromised to be used for final grading.
-
Mandatory Retake: It has already been announced that Paper 12 will not count toward grades; instead, a replacement exam is scheduled for June 9, 2026.
With the leak of Paper 5 today, students and parents are now awaiting news on whether a second retake will be required or if a different grading criteria will be applied.
