POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat has spoken out about his recent meeting with party founder Imran Khan, shedding light on the ongoing protests and the strategy implemented by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Marwat stated that he conveyed his concerns to Khan, asserting that the current protest strategy was not well thought out. He highlighted that the Chief Minister’s approach had not effectively addressed the situation, indicating a need for reevaluation and adjustment in strategy.
During their discussion, Marwat mentioned that Khan expressed his disagreement with the ongoing protests, reinforcing that the situation could have been handled differently. He revealed that the PTI founder is contemplating some decisions regarding the party's direction, which will be elaborated upon by Salman Akram Raja, another party leader.
The conversation also touched on the contentious issue of military courts and the influence of opposition leaders. Marwat recounted his inquiry about Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s role in the formation of military courts. Khan reportedly stated that the existence of military courts does not concern him, indicating a level of detachment from the issue.
Furthermore, Khan signaled a willingness to adapt the party’s protest strategy by suggesting the formation of a new protest committee, in which he expressed his intention to participate. This move indicates a potential shift in PTI's approach to mobilization, aiming for a more coordinated and effective strategy moving forward.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, the remarks made by Sher Afzal Marwat reflect the ongoing challenges faced by the PTI and its leadership in navigating public sentiment and party strategy in turbulent times.
