The Bureau of Statistics reported that the maximum price of sugar per kilogram in Quetta has soared to Rs 229, marking the highest rate in Pakistan. Over the last week, the price in Quetta has increased by Rs 19, up from Rs 210 per kilogram.
In comparison, sugar prices in other major cities remain slightly lower:
- Peshawar: Rs 200 per kg
- Karachi & Islamabad: Rs 195 per kg
- Rawalpindi: Rs 190 per kg
While the maximum prices are high in certain cities, the average price of sugar per kilogram nationwide has slightly decreased by Rs 2.1 over the past week, bringing the average to Rs 185.47. Last week, the average was Rs 187.48, whereas a year ago, the national average stood at Rs 132.24 per kilogram.
The report indicates that citizens in Quetta are currently paying the highest price in the country, reflecting local market dynamics and supply-demand pressures.
