Trump Blames Government Shutdown for GOP Defeat in New York Election

U.S. President Donald Trump has attributed the Republican Party’s loss in the New York election to the ongoing government shutdown, which he said has become the longest in the nation’s history.

Speaking at a public event, Trump described the shutdown as a direct consequence of Democratic intransigence, saying, “The country is currently facing the longest government shutdown in history because of the Democrats’ stubbornness.”

Trump emphasized that the prolonged shutdown had a negative impact on Republican electoral performance, particularly in New York, where Democrats made key gains. He urged the Republican leadership to seriously consider ending the filibuster law, which he said was hindering effective governance.

“We must end the shutdown and reopen the country,” Trump declared, calling for immediate bipartisan cooperation.

Turning to the issue of electoral reform, President Trump proposed the introduction of a new law governing voter registration lists to ensure transparency and accountability in the U.S. electoral system.

He reiterated his longstanding opposition to mail-in voting, labeling it a major source of electoral fraud.

“Voting by mail allows corruption—we reject it,” he stated firmly.

Trump concluded by affirming his administration’s commitment to restoring transparency, efficiency, and public trust in the government and the electoral process, signaling potential legislative moves aimed at overhauling voting procedures and election integrity laws in the coming months.
