POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
In a recent post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Maryam Nawaz Sharif dismissed false perceptions created by a section of the media, asserting that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is emerging as the single largest party in both the central government and Punjab.
Maryam Nawaz announced that the party is awaiting final results and that Mian Nawaz Sharif (MNS) will deliver a victory speech at the PMLN headquarters.
This statement followed criticism on social media questioning PML-N's initial silence as independent candidates appeared to gain momentum in the national assembly seats, contrary to the expected PML-N victory.
Ishaq Dar, former federal finance minister and PML-N leader, disclosed that independent candidates have reached out to the party, emphasizing the party's dominance in National Assembly seats from Punjab.
Despite delays in result announcements attributed to mobile phone network shutdowns, PML-N leaders remained confident in their lead. Meanwhile, supporters of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan claimed an edge in over 100 seats, with vote counts experiencing unusual delays attributed to a suspension of mobile phone services, as reported by local media.
