Mohsin Javed Dawar, former National Assembly member and leader of the National Democratic Movement (NDM), sustained severe injuries in an armed assault in Miranshah.
The attack occurred as Dawar was entering a government compound, with party officials asserting that he was targeted with gunfire.
Dawar, who served in the National Assembly from August 2018 to August 2023, is also the chairman of NDM and co-founder of the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM).
Previously, he held leadership roles in the National Youth Organisation (NYO) and the Pashtun Students Federation (PSF), affiliated with the Awami National Party (ANP).
The incident highlights the challenges and risks faced by individuals advocating for human rights and democratic movements in the region.
