Sir Viv Richards, a legendary West Indies batsman, is most likely going to take over as coach of Quetta Gladiators in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Richards has been a member of the team since the league's debut season in 2016.
"We applied for Sir Viv Richards' visa, however the application process has certain problems. Nonetheless, we have submitted all required paperwork and are optimistic that he will join the team shortly, according to team manager Azam Khan.
He continued, "Sir Viv Richards is also anxious to join the team.
Because of his extravagant playing style, Richards is regarded as one of the best batters of all time. Throughout the course of his illustrious career, which featured more than 15,000 runs, he participated in 121 Tests and 187 One-Day Internationals for West Indies. In tests, he scored 24 hundreds, and in ODIs, he scored 11.
With just one victory in three games, Quetta is ranked sixth in the standings. Today (Tuesday), in Karachi, they will play the reigning champions Lahore Qalandars.
The Sarfaraz Ahmed-led unit lost their opening match against Multan Sultans but bounced back to register victory against Karachi Kings in their next game. However, they once again suffered defeat in their third match of PSL 8 against Peshawar Zalmi on Monday.
