POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
As vote counting for national and provincial assembly elections continued, leaders from major political parties engaged in late-night meetings to secure enough support for forming governments.
PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif assigned his brother, Shehbaz Sharif, to initiate talks with key parties like PPP and MQM-P for a potential alliance. Shehbaz met with PPP leaders Asif Ali Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari, signaling positive discussions.
He also spoke with MQM-P Convener Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, while the MQM-P considered its options after the PML-N's weak performance.
Additionally, the Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) emerged as a potential ally, with discussions about PTI-backed independents joining forces to secure reserved seats in Punjab.
The final decision on alliances and party affiliation is expected in the coming days.
