  • The Crash Into Mourners: Fourteen people, predominantly women and children, sustained injuries on Monday, June 22, 2026, when a fast-moving Suzuki pick-up truck crashed into a roadside tent erected for mourners outside an imambargah in the Defence Housing Authority (DHA), Karachi. Darakshan SHO Rashid Ali confirmed that the vehicle careened out of control on Saba Avenue in DHA Phase VI, penetrating a tent extension outside the Masjid-o-Imam Bargah Baqiyatullah where a traditional majlis (religious gathering) was actively underway.

  • Brake Failure Claim and Arrests: Law enforcement personnel immediately cordoned off the site and took the driver along with two other occupants of the pick-up into custody. During initial interrogation, the driver maintained that the vehicle suffered a catastrophic brake failure, causing him to lose steering control. All three individuals inside the vehicle also suffered injuries during the impact, with one reported to be in critical condition.
