The federal cabinet has approved the deployment of the Pakistan Army and Civil Armed Forces to secure the Bangladesh cricket team's upcoming tour of Pakistan, the Interior Ministry confirmed. The decision was formalized through official orders issued to ensure the safety of players and officials during the high-profile cricket series.
The Bangladesh cricket team is scheduled to arrive in Pakistan on May 25 to participate in a three-match T20 series against Pakistan. All matches will take place at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium, with fixtures set for May 28, May 30, and June 1.
According to sources, the deployment of the Pakistan Army will be carried out under Article 245 of the Constitution, granting the military authority to assist civil power, while the Civil Armed Forces’ involvement will be governed by the Anti-Terrorism Act of 1997. These forces will handle security and protection duties throughout the series.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had formally requested these security arrangements to guarantee the safety of players and fans alike. This week, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi successfully negotiated with Bangladesh Cricket Board officials in Dubai to finalize the series.
This move underscores Pakistan’s commitment to hosting international cricket and providing a secure environment for visiting teams amid ongoing regional security concerns.
