Accused in US Visa Fraud Case Placed on Three-Day FIA Remand

The accused in a US visa fraud case, Sheikh Syed Saifuddin, appeared before an Islamabad court on Tuesday and was placed on a three-day physical remand by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

The FIA had requested a seven-day remand for further investigation, but Judicial Magistrate Ahmed Shahzad Gondal approved a three-day physical remand.

Sheikh Syed Saifuddin is accused of obtaining visas for individuals using a fake Sufi conference in the United States as a pretext. The case was initiated following a formal complaint filed by the US embassy, after which the FIA registered a case, arrested the accused, and requested the court’s approval for physical remand to facilitate investigation.

The FIA is expected to interrogate the accused further during the remand period to uncover the full extent of the alleged visa fraud network. Authorities have emphasized that strict action will be taken against those involved in facilitating fraudulent visa schemes.
