Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko arrived in Islamabad today for a significant official visit, which will continue until November 27, 2024. The visit, warmly welcomed by Pakistani officials, marks a pivotal moment in strengthening the growing partnership between Pakistan and Belarus.

 

During his stay, President Lukashenko will hold extensive talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, with discussions centered on expanding cooperation in key sectors such as trade, industry, technology, and energy. The two leaders are expected to explore new avenues for economic collaboration and deepen the bilateral ties that have seen growth in recent years.

 

Several agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) are anticipated to be signed during this visit, further solidifying the relationship between the two countries. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally extended the invitation to President Lukashenko, emphasizing the significance of this high-level engagement in advancing mutual interests.

 

Accompanying President Lukashenko is a high-level Belarusian ministerial delegation, including Foreign Minister Maxim Ryzenko, and ministers from key sectors such as energy, industry, and communications. The delegation’s arrival in Islamabad has been met with a warm reception, with Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Additional Foreign Secretary Shafqat Ali Khan, and Pakistan's Ambassador to Belarus, Sajjad Haider Khan, extending their greetings at the airport.

 

Interior Minister Naqvi expressed enthusiasm for the visit, noting that both the Pakistani government and people are eager to explore opportunities for further collaboration with Belarus. This visit is seen as a stepping stone towards economic growth and the opening of new trade channels between the two countries.

 

The next few days are expected to be marked by in-depth discussions on ways to enhance bilateral ties and build upon the shared interests of Pakistan and Belarus, ensuring a bright future for their relationship.
