POLITICS & POLICY MAKING

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has expressed serious concerns over the decision to construct new canals in Sindh, emphasizing that such decisions should be made unanimously.
Speaking to Media in Islamabad
Addressing a press conference, Bilawal stated:
“There are many concerns in Sindh regarding the decision of new canals. Unanimous decisions must be taken in this regard.”
He reiterated that PPP has consistently raised the water crisis issue in parliamentary sessions and rejected allegations that the party remained silent on the matter.
“This is a serious issue—it’s a matter of life and death for the people of Sindh. If we do not ensure the rights of those living along the riverbanks, how can we advocate for our case?”
President Zardari’s Historic Speech
Bilawal Bhutto also praised President Asif Ali Zardari’s address to Parliament, calling it “historic”.
“For the first time, a civilian president addressed Parliament for the eighth time. President Zardari spoke of hope rather than hate, representing the entire nation’s concerns.”
He contrasted this with the opposition’s disruptive role, emphasizing the need for constructive politics.
Concerns Over KP Security & Provincial Governance
Bilawal also criticized the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government, saying:
“Terrorism has spread in KP, but the Chief Minister seems uninterested. The federal government must take responsibility for addressing the security situation.”

Bilawal acknowledged attending a dinner hosted by the Prime Minister, where discussions included economic issues. He said:
“We appreciate the positive economic indicators, but we have some reservations that we presented to the PM. We hope our concerns will be addressed.”
