ISLAMABAD – At the Leaders in Islamabad Business Summit, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott stated that Britain considers Pakistan’s success as crucial for its own growth, citing a deep and long-term partnership between the two countries.

Speaking at the summit, Marriott pointed out that bilateral trade between Pakistan and the UK is currently valued at £4.5 billion, and there is a clear opportunity to increase it to £10 billion or £15 billion. She emphasized the vast potential for expanding trade and investment opportunities between the two nations.

Economic Potential of Pakistan

Marriott also referred to a World Bank projection that suggests the Pakistani economy could reach $2 trillion by 2047, further underlining the significant growth potential of Pakistan as a key partner for the UK.

She clarified that the long-standing partnership between Britain and Pakistan is not based solely on sympathy but on Pakistan’s growing importance as a business hub. According to Marriott, the cooperation goes beyond cultural ties, recognizing Pakistan’s potential as an excellent country for trade, investment, and business collaboration.
