Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, has departed for Peshawar after attending a hearing related to the 190 million pound case at Adiala Jail. Sources indicate that while there were plans for her to visit Zaman Park, she ultimately chose to return to Peshawar, considered a safer location due to ongoing legal challenges in Islamabad.
Barrister Saif, representing Bushra Bibi, confirmed her presence at the hearing, indicating that the case involves not only her but also Imran Khan and Barrister Gohar. Discussions about her return were expected to be decided during court meetings, with indications that she may stop in Lahore for a medical check-up.
The hearing regarding the 190 million pound reference was presided over by Judge Nasir Javed, but the interrogation of the investigating officer, Mian Umar Nadeem, remained incomplete after 33 appearances. Tensions arose during the proceedings when NAB Prosecutor Amjad Parvez objected to what he termed "unnecessary questions" posed by Bushra Bibi's lawyer, Usman Gul. Parvez argued that the investigating officer was merely a formal witness and not an eyewitness, emphasizing that the court’s time was being wasted. The court ultimately upheld the prosecution's objection and limited the scope of questioning.
In a separate development, the Anti-Terrorism Court in Rawalpindi has set November 8 as the indictment date for Imran Khan and 78 other accused individuals in connection with the May 9 GHQ attack case. The hearing, overseen by Anti-Terrorism Judge Amjad Ali Shah, included prominent PTI leaders such as Sheikh Rasheed, Shibli Faraz, and Umar Ayub. The court confirmed that the distribution of the challan copies among all accused would be completed by the hearing date.
This case has been separated from other legal proceedings related to the events of May 9, underscoring the ongoing legal challenges facing Imran Khan and his party members.
