A prominent businessman, Amir Awan, was shot dead by robbers in a brazen attack in a posh area of the federal capital, raising fresh concerns about security in Islamabad.

The incident occurred in the Margalla Town area, which falls under the jurisdiction of Shehzad Town police station. According to police officials, the robbery took place at a private farmhouse where armed assailants opened fire on the victim.

Amir Awan sustained critical injuries during the attack and was rushed to a hospital. However, he succumbed to his wounds during treatment the following day.

Police reported that the robbers fled the scene after the shooting, taking with them the victim’s mobile phone as well as weapons belonging to his security guards. Despite ongoing efforts, law enforcement authorities have so far been unable to trace or apprehend the suspects.

CCTV footage of the incident, obtained by media outlets, shows the attackers entering the farmhouse premises and moving across the lawn. The suspects had concealed their faces, making identification difficult.

The shocking killing has once again put Islamabad’s reputation as a safe city under scrutiny, particularly as the crime took place in a well-developed and supposedly secure neighborhood.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, while efforts are underway to analyze CCTV footage and gather further evidence to identify and arrest those responsible.
