COAS Asim Munir Reaffirms Unbreakable Pakistan-China Military Bond

Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir on Friday reaffirmed Pakistan’s deep-rooted strategic partnership with China, highlighting its vital role in ensuring regional peace and stability.

Addressing a commemorative event held at the General Headquarters (GHQ) to mark the 98th anniversary of the founding of China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA), COAS Munir described the Pakistan-China relationship as “unique, time-tested, and exceptionally resilient.”

In a statement released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief said the bilateral ties, grounded in mutual trust and shared strategic interests, have continued to flourish despite shifting global dynamics. He emphasized that the enduring partnership between both nations will play a pivotal role in promoting regional stability and safeguarding shared strategic goals.

The event was attended by China’s Ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong, who served as the chief guest. Also present were Defence Attaché Major General Wang Zhong, Chinese embassy officials, and senior officers from Pakistan’s tri-services.

COAS Munir extended a warm welcome to the Chinese delegation and congratulated the PLA on its 98th founding anniversary. He commended the Chinese armed forces for their significant contributions to national defence, security, and development.

“The friendship between Pakistan and China is unshakable,” the army chief noted. “Our strategic partnership exemplifies mutual trust, unwavering support, and a shared commitment to peace and development.”

Concluding his remarks, he reiterated that the Pakistan Army and the PLA are “true brothers-in-arms.”

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked COAS Munir for hosting the event and lauded Pakistan’s armed forces for their role in combating terrorism and maintaining peace. He reaffirmed China’s steadfast support for Pakistan and its continued commitment to the strategic partnership.

The reaffirmation of bilateral ties comes just a week after COAS Munir’s official visit to China, where he met with Vice President Han Zheng and Foreign Minister Wang Yi. During the visit, Chinese leadership praised the Pakistan Army as a “cornerstone of resilience” in the region.

In recent weeks, Pakistan and China have deepened cooperation in areas including maritime security, agriculture, media collaboration, disaster management, and more — underscoring the growing breadth of the alliance.
