Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hazara Range Nasir Mehmood Satti reaffirmed his commitment to the security of Chinese engineers and workers during his visit to the Balakot hydropower project site on Friday.
The DIG, accompanied by District Police Officer Shafiullah Khan Gandapur, assured the Chinese workforce of comprehensive and multilayered security measures. "The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police have been taking every possible step to ensure your foolproof security so that you can work with complete peace of mind," he said.
DIG Satti held a meeting with army officials to discuss security protocols and emphasized the importance of strict measures. Addressing police personnel deployed for the protection of Chinese nationals, he urged zero tolerance for negligence, stressing that unauthorized individuals should not be allowed near project sites.
“The movement of Chinese engineers and workers must be managed under stringent security protocols, and the existing multi-layered security mechanism should be further strengthened to prevent any mishap,” he stated.
The Chinese engineers and officials briefed DIG Satti on the project's progress. They highlighted the importance of the 300-megawatt Balakot hydropower project, which is the largest initiative undertaken by the Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organisation with financial assistance from the Chinese government.
DIG Satti praised the Chinese workers for their contribution to Pakistan’s development, particularly in addressing the country’s energy crisis.
