Dry, Cold Weather to Persist Nationwide; Light Rain Expected in Northern Areas

The National Emergency Operation Center of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has forecast that dry and cold weather will continue across most parts of Pakistan over the coming week, with light rain and snowfall expected in the northern regions due to a fresh westerly system.

According to the NDMA, a new wave of westerly winds is expected to enter the country, bringing light rain and snowfall to upper areas, while most regions will experience persistently dry conditions.

The forecast indicates that Punjab will remain dry from November 3 to 8, while fog and smog are likely to affect parts of Balochistan during this period. Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will also experience generally dry weather, with a brief spell of clouds in some regions.

Light rain and snowfall are expected in Chitral, Dir, Malakand, Abbottabad, and Mansehra on November 3 and 4. Meanwhile, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) will experience partly cloudy and cold weather from November 3 to 6, with light rain or snowfall likely in hilly areas including Astore, Skardu, Hunza, Bagh, Neelum Valley, and Muzaffarabad.

The NDMA has advised local authorities and travelers to remain cautious in hilly regions where slippery roads and low visibility may occur due to snowfall and fog. Residents are also urged to take preventive measures against the intensifying cold, particularly in high-altitude areas.

This forecast comes as temperatures across Pakistan begin to drop sharply, marking the transition into the winter season.
