Milwaukee, Wisconsin: As election workers in the Milwaukee area commenced the counting of mail-in votes, activists supporting Donald Trump’s assertion that the 2020 election was fraudulent began challenging the legitimacy of every ballot. According to local election officials, these observers raised a series of complaints, alleging that the poll workers were speaking too softly, that absentee ballot envelopes lacked a signed form attesting the voter had requested the ballot, and even questioning the presence of ink scratches on the envelopes.
The scene, described as chaotic, unfolded at multiple polling locations, including a school in Glendale and Milwaukee's central ballot-counting station. At least nine observers appeared to be acting in concert, causing significant delays as poll staff were forced to address the litany of objections raised.
Local election officials characterized the activists' actions as attempts to intimidate the volunteers involved in the ballot counting process, which is a legally mandated and transparent aspect of the election system. As disruptions continued, officials expressed concern over the potential impact on the timely completion of the vote counting.
