Flour prices in Peshawar have seen another increase, causing concern among residents ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
According to the Flour Dealers Association, a 20-kilogram bag of mixed flour has risen from Rs 2,400 to Rs 2,500, while a 20-kilogram bag of fine flour is now being sold for Rs 2,700, up from Rs 2,600.
The association attributed the increase to higher demand, noting that fluctuating prices are affecting the local market and placing additional financial pressure on households.
This surge comes amid a nationwide trend, as flour prices had already risen in major cities including Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar before Ramadan. Economists and consumer advocates warn that sustained increases could further strain family budgets during the fasting season.
Market observers have called for monitoring and regulatory measures to stabilize flour prices and ensure affordability for citizens in the coming weeks.
