Gandapur Blames PTI Protest for Isa Extension Block, Criticizes Party Divisions & Social Media

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) October 4 protest succeeded in preventing an extension for Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa, a goal he said was directly set by party founder Imran Khan.

Speaking to the media in Rawalpindi, Gandapur said Khan had tasked PTI workers to take to the streets, and the protest achieved its objective. “On October 4, the founder of PTI had said everyone has to come. I left Peshawar that day and returned on October 5 after achieving the target,” he said.

The KP chief minister also criticized the federal government, saying it had failed to fulfill promises of aid following devastating floods in his province, which caused over 400 deaths. “Settlements and trees were washed away, there were landslides and mudslides. We managed it to some extent, but the federal government provided no significant help,” he stated.

Turning his attention inward, Gandapur expressed frustration with PTI’s internal rifts and social media activity. “People lie on social media. It supported us in elections, but votes were cast at polling stations, not on Twitter. Revolution doesn’t come by tweeting or making vlogs,” he said.

He also dismissed allegations of fostering group divisions within the party, warning that internal splits were weakening PTI at a critical moment. “We are being divided into groups deliberately. I challenge anyone to prove I created factions,” Gandapur said.

Mocking the idea of online activism replacing real struggle, Gandapur remarked, “If revolutions came through tweets, the founder of PTI would not be in jail.” He stressed that genuine political change requires people taking to the streets, not “finger-pointing from home.”

The chief minister further criticized the PML-N for “politicizing even funerals of martyrs,” calling the assemblies “fake” and accusing the ruling coalition of undermining democracy.
