IHC Clears Registrar's Objections, Schedules PTI Founder’s Bail Hearing for Monday

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has removed objections raised by the Registrar’s Office on the PTI founder's bail application in the Toshakhana reference, setting the stage for a Monday hearing. Justice Mian Gul Hasan Aurangzeb presided over the proceedings, questioning the basis for the Registrar’s objections and scrutinizing procedural elements surrounding the bail application.

The objections centered on procedural discrepancies, notably the power of attorney's date, which was recorded in July despite the cause of action being documented in November. The Registrar’s Office had raised concerns regarding this discrepancy.

Justice Aurangzeb engaged with the petitioner's counsel, Ayesha Khalid, who clarified that the application sought bail specifically for the Toshakhana 2 case. Advocate Shah Khawar, representing the PTI founder, responded to the court's queries by noting that it is customary to file power of attorney documentation early if a petitioner is in custody, explaining that timing issues may arise as a result.

After brief deliberations, Justice Aurangzeb overruled the Registrar's objections, instructing the office to schedule the bail hearing for Monday. Furthermore, Advocate Shahina Shahab requested that notices be issued on the petition, which Justice Aurangzeb confirmed would proceed as per legal protocols.

The court’s decision comes as a significant development in the Toshakhana case, which has drawn considerable attention amid the PTI founder’s ongoing legal challenges.
