The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has directed lawyer Salman Akram Raja to meet former Prime Minister Imran Khan in connection with the case concerning the ban on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
During Tuesday’s hearing, Salman Akram Raja appeared before the court along with representatives of relevant authorities. The counsel informed the court that he had been unable to meet Imran Khan despite a previous order from the court allowing such access.
“I do not have access to my client and was not permitted to meet him earlier as ordered. I can respond to the court only after receiving proper instructions from Imran Khan,” Raja told the bench.
After hearing the arguments, the court instructed jail authorities to facilitate a meeting between Salman Akram Raja and Imran Khan today itself. The court further directed the Deputy Attorney General and the representative of the State Council to immediately notify the jail authorities via phone to ensure compliance with the order.
The case pertains to the restriction placed on Imran Khan’s official X account, which his legal team argues is a violation of fundamental rights, including freedom of expression and access to communication. The court is expected to resume proceedings after Salman Akram Raja confers with his client and submits a detailed response.
