Imran Khan Comments on Maulana Fazlur Rehman's Role in Constitutional Amendment

Where PTI founder Imran Khan is currently involved in legal proceedings related to the £190 million case, Khan shared his views on the ongoing debate about the constitutional amendment and the role of Maulana Fazlur Rehman.

When asked about Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s involvement in the constitutional amendment, Khan responded cautiously, saying, "I cannot say anything." However, he added, “If Maulana is standing for democracy, it’s a good thing. All political parties need to unite for democracy.”

The constitutional amendment has become a focal point of political discourse in Pakistan, with speculations about its purpose and potential impact. Khan, while acknowledging the government's intent to pass the amendment, expressed his belief that the government would only succeed if it manages to gather the required majority in parliament.

A journalist pressed Khan for further clarification on his opinion of Maulana Fazlur Rehman's stance, to which Khan maintained his neutrality, choosing not to elaborate. He did, however, emphasize the importance of democracy and political unity, implying that if Rehman’s efforts align with democratic principles, they should be welcomed.

The PTI founder also discussed the incoming Chief Justice and expressed his belief that an investigation into the May 9 incidents would be conducted. "These people are afraid that if the new Chief Justice comes, he will conduct an investigation on May 9. When the petition of May 9 is brought before the new Chief Justice, the truth will come out," he stated, indicating his confidence in future judicial proceedings.

Khan’s guarded yet optimistic remarks reflect the tense political environment in Pakistan, where constitutional amendments and judicial oversight remain critical issues. His comments suggest that he sees potential for positive outcomes if democratic principles are upheld, but he remains cautious in discussing the broader political landscape.
