Karachi University Shifts Morning Classes Online After Fuel Price Hike

The University of Karachi has decided to conduct its morning classes online from March 9 until the end of Ramadan due to concerns over transportation difficulties caused by the recent increase in petroleum prices.

According to an official notification issued with the approval of the university’s vice chancellor, the decision was taken to facilitate students who may face commuting challenges as a result of higher fuel costs.

University authorities stated that the move aims to ensure that academic activities continue smoothly while also providing relief to students affected by the rising transportation expenses.

The notification confirmed that all morning classes would be held through online platforms during this period, while further instructions regarding schedules and arrangements would be communicated by the respective departments.

The decision comes amid widespread concern across Karachi following a significant increase in petroleum product prices, which has raised transportation costs and created potential mobility issues for students and staff.

University officials noted that the temporary shift to online learning was intended to minimise disruptions and ensure that students could continue their studies without facing additional financial or logistical burdens.

The arrangement will remain in effect from March 9 until the conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, after which the university is expected to review the situation and decide on the future mode of classes.
