King Faisal Specialist Hospital Advances Robotic Cardiac Surgery Program with 400 Successful Procedures

King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSH&RC) has announced a significant milestone in its Robotic Cardiac Surgery Program, surpassing 400 successful procedures since its launch in February 2019. The program boasts an impressive 98% survival rate, solidifying the hospital's leadership in robotic cardiac care on a global scale.

Compared to traditional surgical methods, the hospital has observed remarkable enhancements in patient outcomes. Robotic procedures have led to fewer blood transfusions and reduced durations of artificial ventilation, facilitating quicker recovery and fewer complications for patients.

A standout achievement of the program is the substantial 50% reduction in hospital stays, significantly cutting down patient recovery times. This reduction also correlates with a 40% decrease in overall healthcare costs, allowing patients to return to their normal lives sooner.

Among the complex procedures successfully performed are aortic valve replacements, multi-valve operations, and intricate surgeries that were once considered high-risk. Notably, KFSH&RC stands out globally as the sole hospital capable of conducting robotic cardiac surgeries on pediatric patients.

The hospital initially conducted 105 robotic heart surgeries in its inaugural year, rapidly expanding its capabilities to achieve the current milestone of 400 operations. This progress underscores the hospital's commitment to advancing medical technology and enhancing patient care.

Dr. Feras Khaliel, a prominent figure at KFSH&RC, expressed pride in the hospital's surgical team for their pivotal role in achieving this milestone and reaffirmed their dedication to pushing the boundaries of cardiac surgery through innovation and expertise.

The success of KFSH&RC's Robotic Cardiac Surgery Program not only highlights Saudi Arabia's leadership in healthcare innovation but also signifies a new era in minimally invasive cardiac treatments, setting a benchmark for hospitals worldwide.
