nd order and overall security situation.

According to the letter issued by the Speaker of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly, the committee has sought a comprehensive briefing on the prevailing security challenges, ongoing operations and future strategies to ensure sustainable peace in the province.

The letter stated that the special committee comprises the Leader of the House, Leader of the Opposition, provincial ministers and parliamentary leaders. It added that the committee had already received briefings from the Chief Secretary, Additional Chief Secretary and the Inspector General of Police (IGP).

The committee has now requested a briefing from the Corps Commander to gain insight into the ongoing operations of the federal government and law enforcement agencies, including counterterrorism efforts and security initiatives across the province.

The letter emphasised that sustainable peace cannot be achieved through military or security operations alone, stressing the importance of political and social measures alongside law enforcement actions.

It also sought a detailed briefing on the security operations in the districts merged with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where challenges related to militancy and law and order persist.

According to the letter, the proposed in-camera briefing is requested to be held at the KP Assembly on a date to be decided through mutual consultation, noting that the briefing would help lawmakers fulfil their constitutional responsibilities more effectively.
