The Lahore High Court has formally adopted a four-day work week, following a notification issued by the Registrar of the High Court.
Under the new schedule, both the High Court and subordinate courts across the province of Punjab will operate from Monday to Thursday, reducing the workload on Fridays and Saturdays.
Urgent Cell Operations
The notification specifies that the Urgent Cell, which handles the filing of new cases, will operate with 50 percent of its staff from Monday to Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, the cell will function with only 10 percent of its staff, ensuring that urgent filings can still be processed with minimal personnel.
Security and Cleaning Staff
Security and cleaning staff are exempt from the four-day week and will continue working according to their regular schedules. The notification also prohibits any additional protocols or deviations from the prescribed schedule.
Court officials stated that the decision aims to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and align with broader government measures, while maintaining essential services and court functionality.
