Law Ministry Representative Expelled from PAC Meeting

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on Wednesday expelled a representative of the Ministry of Law and Justice from its meeting, citing a lack of preparation on the issues under discussion.

The meeting, chaired by PAC Chairman Junaid Akbar Khan, saw heated exchanges as members expressed frustration over the representative’s failure to provide satisfactory responses. As a result, the Chairman directed the representative to leave and summoned the Secretary of Law and Justice for the next meeting.

Chairman PAC emphasized that the committee had repeatedly instructed officials to attend sessions fully prepared. “We have said multiple times that the representative should come to the PAC with complete preparation. This negligence is unacceptable,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the committee referred the audit of alleged illegal appointments in State Life Insurance Corporation to the Establishment Division for further scrutiny.

The PAC plays a crucial role in ensuring financial accountability and transparency in government institutions. The expulsion of the Law Ministry representative underscores the committee’s firm stance on enforcing accountability and efficiency within public institutions.
