Lebanon-Israel Ceasefire Extended by Three Weeks Following Oval Office Meeting

The ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel has been extended for another three weeks following high-level discussions held at the White House, according to Donald Trump.

The talks took place in the Oval Office, where the US president met separately with Israel’s ambassador Yechiel Leiter and Lebanon’s ambassador Nada Moawad as part of ongoing efforts to reduce tensions in the region.

Following the meeting, Trump described the discussions as positive and indicated that the United States would continue working with Lebanon to strengthen its security, particularly in the context of threats linked to Hezbollah.

The extension comes shortly after a fresh wave of Israeli strikes, which reportedly resulted in multiple casualties, including a journalist, highlighting the fragile nature of the ceasefire.

Hezbollah, which is engaged in ongoing hostilities with Israel and maintains close ties with Iran, was not part of the negotiations. The group has maintained that it considers its actions a form of resistance against what it describes as occupation.

Despite the extension, the situation remains tense, with diplomatic efforts continuing to prevent further escalation.
