Mossad’s Explosive Pager Plot Strikes Hezbollah, Killing 12 and Injuring 3,000

Israel’s Mossad spy agency planted explosives inside 5,000 pagers imported by the Lebanese group, leading to massive detonations across the country. The blasts, which occurred on Tuesday, resulted in the deaths of 12 people and injuries to nearly 3,000 others, including Hezbollah fighters and Iran’s ambassador to Lebanon.

The operation appears to have been in the works for months, with the pagers reportedly ordered from Taiwan-based Gold Apollo but manufactured by a European firm called BAC, according to multiple sources. The Lebanese security source revealed that the pagers had been modified at the production level to include explosive material. Mossad allegedly activated the explosives by sending a coded message that triggered 3,000 of the devices simultaneously.

Hezbollah, whose fighters had been using the pagers as a low-tech communication method to evade Israeli tracking, was blindsided by the attack. The group has vowed to retaliate against Israel, calling the operation a “massacre” and promising “harsh punishment.”

The explosions, which targeted pagers worn by Hezbollah members from fighters to medics, have been described as one of the group’s most significant counterintelligence failures in decades. Hospitals in Hezbollah-controlled regions, already under strain from ongoing conflict, were overwhelmed by the sudden influx of casualties. Images from the hospitals showed wounded men with missing fingers and severe injuries to their faces and bodies.

The incident comes amid rising tensions between Israel and Hezbollah, as cross-border exchanges of fire have intensified following the October 7 Gaza conflict. Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, has vowed that the group's operations in support of Gaza will continue, while also promising retribution for the attack.

Mossad’s infiltration of Hezbollah’s ranks and its ability to execute such a widespread operation has raised concerns about the depth of Israeli intelligence within the group. Analysts believe this could shift the dynamics in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, as the group scrambles to address its security vulnerabilities.
