Foreign ministers from several Arab and Muslim nations, including Pakistan, Qatar, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and the United Arab Emirates, are set to meet in Istanbul on Monday to move forward with the next phase of the Gaza peace process.
According to Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, the meeting will focus on establishing a Gaza Task Force and a Stabilization Force, with the aim of ensuring a lasting ceasefire and beginning the large-scale reconstruction of Gaza.
Fidan said the discussions will revolve around implementing the next steps of the peace agreement, including securing humanitarian access and laying the groundwork for rebuilding infrastructure devastated by months of conflict.
However, he noted that significant challenges remain on the ground. “Despite the ceasefire agreement, Israel continues to be the biggest obstacle to aid activities,” the Turkish foreign minister said during a press conference.
The gathering in Istanbul marks a crucial step in coordinating regional efforts to stabilize Gaza and ensure the continuation of humanitarian and reconstruction initiatives. The participating countries are expected to issue a joint communiqué outlining their commitments to peace, stability, and the protection of Palestinian civilians.
Observers see this initiative as a significant diplomatic effort by the Muslim world to play a more active role in Gaza’s recovery and long-term political stability.
