CRIME
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has launched a major crackdown against individuals allegedly involved in spreading anti-state content on social media, leading to the arrest of 13 activists across various cities in Punjab.
According to officials, the arrested suspects were part of coordinated online campaigns targeting state institutions, including government bodies and security forces. The agency stated that these individuals were actively sharing provocative and misleading material on multiple social media platforms, which was considered harmful to public order and national stability.
The arrests were carried out in different districts, including Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad, and Multan, over the past few weeks. Authorities confirmed that digital evidence, including mobile phones and online records, has been recovered from the accused individuals.
All suspects have been booked under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA), 2016. Officials added that investigations are ongoing and further arrests are expected as the crackdown continues.
The NCCIA emphasized that strict action will be taken against anyone misusing social media to spread anti-state propaganda or incite unrest, reiterating its commitment to enforcing cyber laws across the country.
