POLITICS & POLICY MAKING
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has said that there is no ban on meetings with the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and that the government is ready to facilitate such meetings if formally requested.
Speaking during Hum News’ program “Faisla Aap Ka”, the minister said that the PTI founder is allowed to meet his entire family and legal team in jail. “If there is any obstacle in meeting the founder PTI, we will review it,” he stated. “We are also ready to shift the PTI founder to Bani Gala if PTI submits an official request.”
Tariq Fazal Chaudhry added that the government has no objection to the PTI founder meeting political figures either. However, he accused the former prime minister of “corrupting the political system”, saying that “the reason Sohail Afridi became Chief Minister was political chaos.”
Commenting on the internal dynamics of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s politics, the minister said, “We already knew which lobby was speaking against Ali Amin Gandapur. I have no issue with Sohail Afridi’s character, and I pray he serves the people sincerely.”
Regarding the upcoming local government elections in Islamabad, Chaudhry said that polls will be held and expressed confidence in the government’s victory. “Local elections are not the main issue right now; there are more important national matters,” he noted.
He further highlighted Pakistan’s recent counterterrorism success, saying that “Pakistan has raised its honor and prestige before the world by targeting terrorist safe havens inside Afghanistan.”
The statement comes amid ongoing political tensions and national security challenges, as the government seeks to balance internal stability with external defense priorities.
