Noam Chomsky Discharged from Sao Paulo Hospital, Continues Recovery at Home

Renowned American intellectual Noam Chomsky has been discharged from the Beneficencia Portuguesa Hospital in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where he had been receiving treatment. The hospital confirmed that the 95-year-old's treatment will continue at home.

This update comes amidst rumors about Chomsky's health. His wife, Valeria Wasserman, dismissed media reports claiming he had died. "It’s false. He is well," Wasserman stated in an email to AFP.

Chomsky was recently hospitalized in Sao Paulo following a stroke a year ago that left him with difficulty speaking and moving the right side of his body. Despite these challenges, his recovery continues at their home in the city.

Noam Chomsky first gained prominence in the 1950s with his groundbreaking theory on language, which posited that the ability to form structured language is innate. Over the decades, he has authored more than 100 books, covering topics from Middle Eastern conflicts to geopolitical issues.

Beyond his academic contributions, Chomsky has been an outspoken activist on a wide range of issues, including US intervention in Vietnam, labor rights, and environmental concerns. His enduring influence as a thinker and activist remains significant globally.

The news of his discharge is a relief to his many admirers and followers who have been concerned about his health. As he continues his recovery at home, the intellectual community extends its best wishes for his well-being.
