The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has directed all stakeholders in the oil and gas sector to make digital payment options mandatory by October 31, in line with the government’s vision of promoting a cashless economy.
According to OGRA’s directive, all licensees, LPG and CNG operators, refineries, and oil marketing companies must adopt digital payment systems, including QR code-based transactions, to ensure transparency and convenience for consumers.
The regulator has further instructed that digital payment facilities be prominently advertised at all outlets to inform and encourage customers. After the October 31 deadline, no company will be allowed to refuse digital transactions.
OGRA emphasized that the transition to digital payment solutions will not only improve consumer convenience but also help strengthen Pakistan’s digital financial infrastructure.
The move aligns with broader national efforts to reduce reliance on cash and expand financial inclusion, while ensuring compliance across the energy sector.
