Omar Bin Laden, the son of Al Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden, has been deported from France, where he had been living quietly in a Normandy village, and is now banned from re-entering the country. The deportation comes in response to social media posts made by Bin Laden that were interpreted as glorifying terrorism.

Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau confirmed the decision, stating that he had signed an order to prohibit Bin Laden's return to France. Although the exact timing of the deportation and Bin Laden’s current location were not disclosed, Retailleau emphasized that the administrative ban ensures that he cannot return for any reason.

According to Retailleau, Omar Bin Laden had been living in the Orne region of France for several years as the spouse of a British national. However, his online activities drew the attention of French authorities. In 2023, he made social media posts commemorating the birthday of his father, Osama bin Laden, who was killed by US forces in 2011. While specific details about the post have not been disclosed, it reportedly contributed to his deportation.

Local media outlet Le Publicateur Libre previously reported that French police had been searching for Bin Laden in the village of Domfort, Normandy, as authorities investigated his social media activities.

Omar Bin Laden's deportation highlights ongoing concerns regarding individuals with ties to extremist organizations and the potential risks they may pose within society. The French government’s decisive action underscores its commitment to national security and its stance against any form of terrorism glorification.
