Over 750 suspects arrested during the recent PTI protest were presented before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Rawalpindi on Thursday. The detainees, primarily from Rawalpindi, Attock, and Chakwal districts, were brought before ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah as part of the legal proceedings following their arrests during the nationwide protests.
The police from the three districts presented the suspects in connection with the cases registered at various police stations. The court reviewed the charges and issued remand orders for several of the accused.
Among the detainees, 77 suspects arrested by the Sadiqabad police were granted a five-day physical remand. A dozen others, arrested by Waris Khan police, were handed over to police on a two-day physical remand. Similarly, suspects arrested by New Town police were given a four-day remand.
In a significant development, the court ruled to discharge all suspects under the age of 18. The remaining suspects were sent to jail on judicial remand as the investigation continues.
The proceedings reflect the ongoing legal response to the PTI-led protests, with authorities taking firm action against those involved in the unrest. The case continues to unfold as the justice system processes the suspects involved in the recent demonstrations.
