Pakistan Army’s Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif, has confirmed that the Jafar Express hostage crisis in Bolan has ended successfully, with all 33 terrorists eliminated and hostages rescued.
The Attack on Jafar Express
On March 11, terrorists targeted the railway track in Bolan, forcing the Jafar Express to stop. According to railway officials, there were 440 passengers on board. The attackers used women and children as human shields, making the operation particularly challenging.
Military Response & Clearance Operation
The Pakistan Army, Air Force, Frontier Corps (FC), and Special Services Group (SSG) swiftly launched a rescue operation. The security forces:
✅ First eliminated the suicide bombers with snipers.
✅ Cleared each bogie step by step, ensuring the safety of hostages.
✅ Killed all 33 terrorists in a methodical operation.
By the evening, the hostage rescue was completed. Unfortunately, before the operation, 21 innocent passengers were brutally killed by the terrorists. Additionally, 4 FC personnel were martyred, including three who were attacked at a nearby picket before the operation.
Pakistan Army’s Stand Against Terrorism
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif emphasized that no civilian will be allowed to be targeted on roads or trains. He declared that the Jafar Express incident has changed the rules of engagement, reinforcing Pakistan’s resolve against terrorism.
He further stated:
“These terrorists have no connection with Islam, Pakistan, or Balochistan.”
The bomb disposal squad is currently clearing the railway track and surrounding areas, while security forces continue rounding up any escaped kidnappers.
