Pakistan and Belarus signed multiple agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) aimed at enhancing cooperation in trade, defense, environment, and other key sectors. The signing ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko during the latter’s official visit to Pakistan.

Among the important MOUs signed was an agreement between the Belarusian Financial Cooperation Fund for Business and Pakistan’s Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA). In addition, critical military cooperation agreements were concluded between the Ministries of Defense and the Ministries of Interior of both countries.

A strategic roadmap outlining military cooperation from 2025 to 2027 was also presented. Both sides agreed to implement a roadmap under an existing MoU on environmental protection, demonstrating a shared commitment to sustainable development.

The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan also formalized their cooperation with a new agreement aimed at promoting mutual trade and economic activities.

During a joint press conference following the ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of President Lukashenko’s visit, calling it a milestone in strengthening bilateral relations. “We held productive discussions on deepening our friendship and cooperation,” said the Prime Minister.

He highlighted that Pakistan offers tremendous investment opportunities across various sectors and encouraged Belarusian companies to invest in the country, citing a favorable economic environment and strong institutional support.

Prime Minister Sharif further stressed the need for both countries to share expertise in agriculture and industry, and praised the contributions of Pakistanis residing in Belarus toward its development.

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, speaking on the occasion, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to nurturing ties with Pakistan. “There are vast opportunities for cooperation in different sectors, and today’s agreements will give our relationship a new direction,” he said.

He welcomed the initiative to host the Pakistan-Belarus Business Forum, calling it a pivotal step toward maximizing bilateral trade and economic potential.

These developments mark a new chapter in Pakistan-Belarus relations, paving the way for enhanced collaboration in defense, trade, sustainability, and people-to-people connections.
