Pakistan Customs has seized 15.2 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine (ice) worth approximately Rs 910 million during a successful operation in Dera Ismail Khan, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) reported on Wednesday.
According to an official FBR statement, the narcotics were recovered from a passenger bus during an intelligence-based operation conducted by Pakistan Customs. The seized contraband was being transported to a government warehouse when the customs team came under attack by unidentified miscreants.
The FBR said that the attackers opened fire in an attempt to retrieve the drugs; however, the customs staff responded promptly, ensuring the safety of both the personnel and the seized narcotics.
Authorities praised the swift and coordinated action of the customs officers, emphasizing that such operations highlight Pakistan’s commitment to curbing drug trafficking and cross-border smuggling.
The FBR further stated that investigations are underway to identify those involved in the smuggling attempt and the subsequent armed assault.
This major seizure marks yet another success in the ongoing national crackdown against narcotics smuggling and illegal trade across Pakistan’s western regions.
