Pakistan’s security forces have eliminated nine terrorists, including a suicide bomber, during intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), according to statements released by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday.

In KP’s Dera Ismail Khan, four terrorists associated with the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban, referred to by the state as Fitna-al-Khawarij, were killed during an intelligence-driven operation. The ISPR said weapons and ammunition were recovered from the militants, who were “actively involved in numerous terrorist activities” in the region.

Separately, in Balochistan’s Pishin district, security forces killed five terrorists, including a suicide bomber, during an IBO on Sunday. The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) confirmed that the militants had planned attacks on police lines and Cadet College Pishin. Weapons, ammunition, and explosives were seized from the slain terrorists.

Both ISPR statements emphasized that sanitization operations are ongoing to eliminate any remaining “Indian-sponsored terrorists” in these regions. The operations are part of Pakistan’s counter-terrorism campaign under the vision ‘Azm-i-Istehkam’, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif commended the security forces for their success. The president said the Pishin operation “reflects the nation’s resolve in the fight against terrorism,” while the prime minister highlighted the security forces’ daily progress and reaffirmed nationwide support for armed forces and law enforcement authorities.

Recent operations across Pakistan have intensified. On February 18, the CTD reported killing 14 suspected militants in Quetta and Barkhan, while an IBO in KP’s Lakki Marwat district resulted in the death of four “Indian-sponsored” terrorists.

The operations underscore Pakistan’s determination to eliminate terrorism and ensure national security amid ongoing threats from domestic and foreign-backed militant groups.
