PM Shehbaz Sharif to Visit UAE for High-Level Talks Aimed at Strengthening Strategic Partnership

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will embark on an official visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) tomorrow (Thursday) for high-level meetings focused on reinforcing bilateral, regional, and global cooperation between the two nations.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, the visit reflects the “deep-rooted fraternal ties” shared by Pakistan and the UAE, built on mutual trust, shared values, and a history of close collaboration across a broad range of sectors.

The premier will be accompanied by a high-level delegation, including Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, several federal ministers, and other senior government officials.

During his stay, Prime Minister Shehbaz will hold crucial discussions with UAE leadership, including a bilateral meeting with UAE President and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The talks are expected to focus on enhancing economic ties, investment opportunities, trade expansion, and deepening cooperation in strategic areas.

The Foreign Office described the visit as a “manifestation of Pakistan’s and UAE’s shared commitment to bolstering their mutually beneficial strategic partnership, enhancing cooperation in existing areas of mutual interest, and exploring new avenues for future collaboration.”

In recent months, the UAE has reaffirmed its commitment to Pakistan through diplomatic and financial support, including the announcement of a $2 billion debt rollover. In April, both nations signed several memoranda of understanding (MoUs), further cementing people-to-people and government-level relations.

Earlier this year, in February, PM Shehbaz was invited to speak at the World Governments Summit (WGS) in Dubai, where he delivered a keynote speech emphasizing Pakistan’s priorities around inclusive growth, digital transformation, and governance reforms.

The UAE remains one of Pakistan’s largest trade partners in the Middle East and a critical source of remittances. With a substantial Pakistani expatriate population contributing to UAE’s economy, the visit is also expected to address matters related to labor welfare and diaspora facilitation.

Analysts view this diplomatic mission as part of Pakistan’s ongoing strategy to deepen economic partnerships and reaffirm strategic alliances amid shifting regional dynamics.
