🕊️ A Life of Political Service
Born in 1953, Agha Siraj Durrani completed his early education from St. Patrick’s School, Karachi, in 1971. He went on to earn a Bachelor of Commerce degree and later pursued an LLB from Sindh Muslim Law College.
Durrani, along with his elder brother Agha Salahuddin, contested the 1985 non-party elections held under General Zia-ul-Haq but was unsuccessful. In 1990, he was arrested on embezzlement charges during Nawaz Sharif’s first government and spent a period in jail.
Despite early challenges, Durrani went on to become one of the most influential PPP figures in Sindh, serving two consecutive terms as the Speaker of the Sindh Assembly, from 2013 to 2018 and 2018 to 2023. His tenure was marked by legislative continuity, party loyalty, and his steadfast support for PPP’s democratic vision.
Agha Siraj Durrani’s passing marks the end of an era in Sindh’s political landscape, leaving behind a legacy of public service, resilience, and loyalty to his party and province.
