PTI Challenges Formation of Punjab Election Tribunals in Supreme Court

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has taken legal action against the formation of Punjab Election Tribunals by filing a review appeal in the Supreme Court. Secretary General Salman Akram Raja submitted the appeal, contesting the Supreme Court's decision made on September 30.

 

In the appeal, PTI argues that the recent meeting between the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court and the Chief Election Commissioner cannot serve as a valid justification for altering the election tribunals. The petition emphasizes that on April 4, the Lahore High Court Registrar had already notified the establishment of six election tribunals, which should remain intact.

 

The PTI's petition requests a thorough review of the Supreme Court's decision, asserting that the changes made to the election tribunal system lack a solid legal foundation and threaten the integrity of the electoral process in Punjab.

 

The outcome of this appeal could have significant implications for the political landscape in Punjab, as the legitimacy of the election tribunals is crucial for ensuring fair and transparent electoral proceedings in the region.
